There are times I wonder
by Sabeen Ansari

There are times I wonder
what it is all about;
the life that we live
in the world in which we are.

We are all together,
yet we all are not.
We see many things,
but we seem them all distinctly differently.

I can't explain all that I see,
nor all that I desire.
All I know is that I stand -
Alone when it comes to faith

No one can live my life for me.
It is for me to live the way
that has been prescribed
through time.

My heart, mind, body and soul
reside in this land
for only a short time
and when it ends -

I will face Thee,
and own up to
what I have done, seen, and been a part of.
I bow my head now

since I know
that there are things
that must be accomplished
before that Majestic Day.

Where we all stand before Thee
and answer Thy questions
that Thee have written for me.
I will watch my life

In front of my eyes
and be Judged by Thee,
The Creator
and The Sustainer of the universe.

Sabeen attends college in the Boston area and is studying the Natural Sciences and Elementary Education. She also works and is an editor for Illumination Magazine. She spends extra time volunteering at the Masjid. "Poetry has become a means, for me, to take all the thoughts and ideas from my mind and place them into a medium that expresses them in the best way. I usually write for myself and find it to be a release that allows me to think clearly."
