Touched
by Sarwar Khalid Lodhi

Yes you've touched a string or two
You've done what many could'nt do

The pretty shining star at night
Is all such a pretty sight
Though it is so far away
But still it seems right there with you
Yes you've touched a string or two

Yes to fight is to deeply love
When there is a sense of belonging
And to say no, is to say yes
When it is said with a longing

For the other to ask again
For you to respond
To do it again and again
To further cement the bond

One can reach the farthest star
With love that is sincere
And can reach a point in time
Where there is no fear

of losing and parting
For togetherness is meeting of souls
And once the bond is developed
Love a greeting of souls

Beyond comprehension
It is a strange state of affair
Life is not all black and white
But all so pretty and fair

Innocence is the root of goodness
To be beyond, there and not there
To rise above the daily chores
To be able to share

The divine gifts that are
Spread out present everywhere
To reach for what we cannot get
But still love, in despair

And to come back not empty handed
(But with cup full of)
What is sweet, divine and rare
Such a colour that never fades
And sheds light in it glare

It digs and reaches the soul
With what can we compare
Such is the fate of the one who loves
Treads where angels don't dare

Sees paths and goes places
Unique, difficult to conceive
The colour of blessing we do not know
Until we are lucky enough to receive
