A New Beginning
by Maria La Pachet

So I called you once more
Asking for another chance.
You embraced me,
Whispered my name, and
We resolved to hang in there.

No matter what we did,
It seemed we couldn’t fight back
That son of a bitch so-called cancer.

No matter what you said,
I couldn’t let go some little things.

No matter how hard we tried,
It seemed we wouldn’t been able
To leave behind the ghosts of our past.

No matter what you did,
Instead of taking it easy,
I made things tough for both of us.

I tried to deny it, but
You were here for real.
I closed my eyes, just to discover
You were in front of me when I opened them.
You are real. You are here to stay.
I hate do admit it, I’m not going anywhere.

A new beginning…
We should give each other.
A new beginning…
A new chance to share life
With our eyes wide opened.
A new beginning…
it’s time to start thinking about tomorrow.
