Something Happened
by Shafeeq Ahmed

Something happened,
Not quite sure when.
My soul began weeping,
To no certain end.
Taking deep roots
Seeds, which lament,
Drained me of spirit,
Thoughts of hope full spent.

Darkening clouds
Muffle the soft cries,
While fluent, sad tears
Blind my somber eyes.
Dams of patience broke,
Virtue within no longer swells.
Drowned in lonesome tides,
Entranced under melancholy spells.
