Online Journal of Poetry
Volume 1 Issue 3 June 2003

From the Editor

I would like to take a minute to express my heartfelt thanks to all who read and support what this journal
represents. In particular, I would like to thank the contributors and readers. Starting an online journal that
is open to poems about God and by modern Western poets is a radical step in a world where divinity has
become so detached from our creative lives. And based on the connections I have made with numerous
wonderful writers of verse, I am learning how truly broad the vistas may be of such work. I say, God is truly
The Graceful.

This month features the work of four talented writers. "Loving from Within," by Aziza Hussain, is an
affirmation of faith. It acknowledges the wonder of a new commitment to a chosen path. "Measured Soul,"
by Leslie "Astute Idiot", asks questions and gives wisdom on the nature and value of a soul. "The Shame of
Loyalty," by Azhar Muhammad Usman, is a powerful narrative of identity in post 9/11 America. And "Please,"
by Shadi Hamid, is a song of redemption.

Thanks for stopping by, and Enjoy!
