Timeless beauty
by Ravie Shankar Rajan

Time has swiftly flown by; I still remember that day, forty years ago; Mother scolding me in a gentle voice, Enough of your excuses! I am going to get you married. Letters were dispatched, horoscopes were matched; Eight weeks later, you walked into my house. Soon a fragile relationship blossomed between us; Slowly surviving and winning through the tests of time. Black circles now reside permanently beneath your eyes; Ears strain hard to gather the remnants of sound; Arms weak and feeble, losing the vitality of youth; Ugly wrinkles have swallowed your beautiful face. The people may now call you an old woman; You will always remain a timeless beauty for me. Note: This poem is an acrostic: the first letter of each line forms a word
